Little Voices Make Big Ideas
Welcome to the Northmead Junior School Council!
We’re the Northmead Junior School Council, and we’re here to make sure that every student has the best possible experience at school. Our council is all about working together - students and staff - to create a caring, fun, and exciting environment for everyone. Whether it’s through fun events, new ideas, or making sure every voice is heard, we’re here to make a difference!
Our Mission:
Our mission is to:
· Create a school environment where every student feels happy, included, and valued.
· Be the voice of the students and help turn our ideas into reality.
· Work alongside our teachers, staff, parents and local community to make positive changes.
· Organise fun and exciting events that bring everyone together and help us celebrate our school spirit.
The Council Team:
Our School Council is made up of students from all year groups, along with our dedicated staff advisors. We meet regularly to discuss ideas, plan events, and work on any issues that come up. If you have something to say or suggest, you can always talk to one of us—we’re here to listen and help!
What We Do:
The School Council is involved in a variety of activities and projects throughout the year, including:
· Planning Fun Events: Whether it’s a wellbeing day, holding a competition or a fundraising event, we love bringing the school together with exciting activities.
· Improving Our School: We listen to your ideas and suggestions, and we work with staff to help improve our school, from playground improvements to changes that make learning even better.
· Supporting Charities: We care about the world around us! The School Council organises charity events and campaigns to help those in need and raise awareness of important causes.
· Representing You: We are here to make sure that every student’s voice is heard. We bring your thoughts, ideas, and concerns to meetings with staff and make sure they’re taken seriously.
Our Current Project: Rebranding ‘The Centre’ as ‘The Nest’!
We are excited to be working with Mrs. Fletcher on a very special project: helping The Centre rebrand as ‘The Nest’! To do this, we’ve launched a creative competition for the students of Northmead Junior School to design a logo or mascot for ‘The Nest’.
Here’s what we’ve been up to so far:
· Getting to Know The Nest (formerly known as The Centre): The students from The Nest recently took part in an assembly where they shared all the wonderful things they do. It was a great opportunity for the rest of the school to better understand their activities and how they fit right in with the rest of the school.
· School Council Assembly: After that, the School Council took over a whole-school assembly to officially launch the competition. We shared the exciting details and encouraged everyone to get involved!
We know that lots of students have creative ideas, and we can’t wait to see your designs! Whether you’re drawing, painting, or coming up with something entirely unique, this is your chance to make a lasting mark on ‘The Nest’.
Important Dates:
· Competition Closing Date: Friday, 7th February
Don’t miss out—get your designs in before the deadline! Let’s help ‘The Nest’ feel like home for everyone involved!
Visiting the Local Dementia Home
One of our favourite things to do as a School Council is visit our local dementia home. We love reading our stories and poems, singing songs, and sharing our artwork with the residents. It's always a heartwarming experience,
and we enjoy the special bond we’ve created with the people who live and work there.
We are looking forward to returning very soon to share more of our creativity and brighten their day! It’s a wonderful way to connect with our community and bring joy to others.
