Northmead Junior School

Guinness World Record

We are thrilled to inform you that Northmead Junior and Stoughton Infant School have been successful in our attempt to secure a Guinness World Record for the “Most People Performing Jazz Hands”, with a total of 544 participants, surpassing the previous record by over a hundred people.

Guinness World Records now offers those who have participated in a group record the opportunity to purchase a Certificate of Participation. This is a smaller version of the official certificate, presented in a frame, and serves as a lovely keepsake to remember this momentous occasion. Purchases can be made via the GWR shop, and please note that the schools do not receive any financial benefit from these sales.

If you would like to purchase one, please follow this link: https://gwrstore.com/products/certificate-of-participation, then select – United Kingdom – 2024 – June – Most People Performing Jazz Hands.

We would also like to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone involved in this achievement: the local community members who acted as witnesses, stewards, or simply supported our attempt; the staff at both schools who took part and led assemblies to practice the art of jazz-handing; and the Senior Leadership Teams at each school for allowing this somewhat mad idea to move from concept to reality.

Finally, a huge thank you to all the children for their patience while we awaited the result, and for conducting themselves in such an admirable way throughout the record attempt.
