This year, World Book Day looked a little different, with many of our children working from home. This did not stop us celebrating and we loved seeing the costumes you managed to create.
We invite parents and guardians to sign-up for our virtual parents’ meetings on Wednesday 17th March from 4.00- 6.00pm or Thursday 18th March from 6:00pm- 8:00 pm.
We are delighted to say we are able to welcome all children back to school from Monday 8th March 2021
World Book Day - 4th March 2021. We will celebrate World Book Day, with a dress up day. If they would like to, children can dress up in costumes inspired by their favourite book or character. This applies to children learning from home or in school. We look forward to seeing your creations.
Here at Northmead, we recognise that children are growing up in an internet-based world. We must prepare them with the skills they need to be able to use technology efficiently and safely.
We are looking to appoint a hardworking, flexible, and friendly caretaker to join our team. This is a part time position (15 hours per week) for a one-year fixed term contract (with a view to extend the post). There will be some flexibility as to how the hours will be worked, although we are anticipating the hours to be worked over 5 days (Monday to Friday), 4 days from 1.30pm to 4.30pm, and one day from 11am to 2pm.
Having access to books during lock down is essential. It is important children continue to read regularly at home. We appreciate that families are trying to balance a lot at the moment but the importance of making reading part of your child's daily routine cannot be understated. Obviously, it is slightly more tricky to get hold of books in the current situation. This newsletter gives you details of two sites which you can use to access books for free.
Open letter to all parents/carers of children & young people from Surrey County Council
The National Lockdown announced by the Prime minister on the 4 January will have not been the start to the New Year we all would have hoped for. We acknowledge how extremely stressful and challenging 2020 has been for you and your family and hope that despite this, you and your family are keeping safe and well.
We reiterate the national direction to us all, You must stay at home. The single most important action we can all take is to stay at home to protect the NHS and save lives. You should follow this guidance immediately. This is the law.
In the spirit of this guidance we wish to remind you that your child should stay at home and access remote learning if it is safe to do so. This will lower the number of households mixing and reduce transmission of the virus.
Following the announcement from the Government this evening Northmead will only be open on Tuesday 5th January for vulnerable children who have an EHCP or a social worker and key worker’s children.

We appreciate that there has been much disruption to children's education over the past year and are therefore committed to ensuring that all children continue to receive a quality education should the need for remote learning arise.
