School Crossing Patrol
We apologise that due to lots of unforeseen absences, there has not been a regular crossing patrol at the top of the school drive and how this is negatively impacting drop-off and pick-up times.
We have been informed by Surrey County Council that as staff we are not legally allowed to help the children cross the road. This is as frustrating for us as it is for you.
Whilst we are trying to resolve this situation, we would like to ask if there is a parent or relative who would like to act as a stand in crossing patrol who we could call on when needed. This would be from 8.15am to 9.00am and 3.00pm to 3.30pm as required. A short training session would be required which is delivered by Surrey County Council. If you have children who attend Northmead they would be welcome to wait in the school building before or after school whilst you carry out your duties. If this is something you feel you would be able to take on, please email us at info@northmead.surrey.sch.uk, and we can provide you with further details.
Please can we also take this opportunity to remind you not to arrive at school until after the gates have opened at 8.30am. Arriving before 8.30am causes families to queue up the drive and into Grange Road, increasing risk. Please arrive after 8.30am.
Thank you in advance for your understanding whilst we work through this.
