Reading Assessments Each term children take a written paper to assess their level of attainment in reading comprehension. Until this point we have been using PIRA, produced by Rising Stars, however this term we have made the decision to change and use NTS Assessments (National Test-style Standardised Assessments). We believe these tests to be more comparable with the style of the SATs tests which children are required to take at the end of year 6. Children also take a Star Reader online test as part of the accelerated reader system. This provides teachers with a reading age for each child and an indication of the coloured reading level from which children should choose their home reading books.
